Groundbreaking iPad and iPhone app for the world’s most influential art event – the Frieze Art Fair.
The brief
Create the first ever Frieze Art Fair iPad and iPhone app to enhance the experience of everyone involved – from its 60,000 visitors and 1000 featured artists, to international curators, collectors and media audiences. Showcase the fair’s grand collection of works (worth $375 million), be an indispensable tool during the event and set the standard for mobile apps in the art world.
Our approach
In order to craft the most useful, beautiful and robust response to the brief we placed the rich content and a fluid, connected user experience at the centre of our design. We collaborated with Graphic Thought Facility and explored typography, use of imagery and colour to ensure a true reflection of the brand personality, whilst working closely with Frieze to understand the diverse needs of their huge audience.
The end result
The Frieze iPad and iPhone app launched with a happy buzz of media coverage and download activity, featuring in the ‘New and Noteworthy’ section of the iTunes store and getting a thumbs up from the likes of Wonderland magazine and The Times.
Key features include the Art Finder comprehensive search facility, an interactive map with Wayfinder functionality and a Favourites tool to personalize your Frieze experience.
